A chair printed in the air

A chair printed in the air

Voxel Chair V1.0 was the first prototype designed with innovative software developed specifically for large-format robotic 3D printing. Designed by Manuel Jiménez García and Gilles Retsin, this piece marked a before and after in the way of conceiving objects, redefining the iconic Panton chair and producing it in plastic materials through a pioneering process. Above all, it is an invaluable contribution to the design of objects using Large Format Additive Manufacturing (LFAM).

Exclusive design software

Unlike traditional methods, where pre-defined shapes are created and then "cut" into toolpaths or triangular patterns, this new software allowed for the design and control of thousands of line segments in real time.
After a detailed structural analysis, 2.36 km of trajectory were assembled into a single continuous line , giving life to an object that seemed to be drawn in the air.

Founders of Nagami 3D Printing Design

The Birth of Nagami

This project was the trigger for Manuel Jiménez García , along with architects Miguel Ángel Jiménez García and Ignacio Viguera , specialists in digital design, to decide to found Nagami. Since then, the company has led innovation in digital design and manufacturing using robotic 3D printing, taking architecture and design to new horizons.

A design that made history.

The Voxel Chair not only established itself as a revolutionary prototype, but also as a world-renowned work of art . Today it is part of permanent collections in institutions such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, demonstrating how digital design and Nagami's pioneering 3D printing technology can transcend the boundaries between art, architecture and technology.
